Dry Bak Kut Teh

It's very common to crave the taste of home when you are living abroad. Especially people like myself, a typical Malaysian girl who loves to eat. Luckily I love to cook so whenever I'm desperate for certain kind of dishes, I will try it on my own first. This time is the famous "Dry" Bak Kut Teh (肉骨茶).

The typical Bak Kut Teh, consists of meaty pork ribs or pork belly simmered in a fragrant broth of herbs and spices. However, some people also fancy additional ingredients like shitake mushroom, chinese cabbage, button mushroom and dried tofu in their pot of Bak Kut Teh. The Bak Kut Teh is usually eaten with rice.

Meanwhile the "Dry" Bak Kut Teh, still consists of pork meat is cooked to a thicker gravy with additional ingredients like dried chillies and dried squids. Here is my humble recipe of "dry" bak kut teh. It's not the best yet so any feedback or suggestion is very welcomed. Have fun cooking!

"Dry" Bak Kut Teh (for 2 person)

Ingredients A (for the broth)

500g of pork belly ( I prefer pork belly but you can use pork ribs or any part, depending on your preference)

4 pints of water

1 packet of pre-mix bak kut teh herbs & spices

1-2 garlic bulbs ( you can add more garlic if you like stronger garlic taste)

10-15 pieces of Wolfberry ( gei ji)

2 tbsp of thick dark soy sauce

2 tbsp of light soy sauce

1 teaspoon of oyster sauce

1 teaspoon of salt

Steps A

1. Put the 1 packet of pre-mix into the water and bring it to a boil.

2. Add in the pork, garlic, wolfberries, dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, oyster sauce and salt.

3. Simmer in low heat for an hour.

4. Take out the pork and set a side. Keep the broth

Ingredient B ( dry bak kut teh)

500ml of broth

3 small pcs of dried squid ( 2 if is medium size)

1-2 pcs of chilli padi

Some small pieces of dried scallops ( I put coz I like scallops!)

10 pcs of dried chillies

Some coriander

2 shallots bulbs (fried)

Lady's finger

1 tbsp of maltose ( I like it to be slightly sweet). You can also use rock sugar or normal sugar

2 -3 tbsp of light soy sauce

1-2 tbsp of thick dark soy sauce

1 teaspoon of oyster sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

Steps B

1. Fry the dried squid, dried chillies, dried scallops and chili padi until fragrant.

2. Add in the pork from Steps A. Fry for 2 minutes.

3. Add in the lady's fingers.

3. Add in the 500ml of the soup or adequate to cover the ingredients.

4. Add in the light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, maltose, salt and pepper.

5. Bring it to boil and cook until the gravy is thickened

6. Garnish it with some coriander and fried shallots

Enjoy the ever-so-tasty "dry" bak kut teh!

Land van Oranje...

Travelling with your best friend is a journey of a lifetime. Sharing the special moments while you both enjoy exploring exciting new places together is a blessing.

I was really fortunate that I get to explore the Land van Oranje with two very good friends of mine - Emily & Jenifer. For some personal reason, I didn't plan to visit Amsterdam for Queens Day even though I know I will get to meet some Malaysian friends whom I really miss..until Emily told me that she will be going to Amsterdam too.

Before I share about Amsterdam..let me tell you who is Emily..

Emily is a very very good friend of mine from Malaysia who is currently working in Hong Kong. I haven't seen her for months and I was so happy when she told me that she'll come to visit me in London before Amsterdam.

Thanks to Alvin, we both have a really comfy place to sleep. We had loads of fun or maybe I had loads of fun. We visited the Borough Market; tried the burgers, Racliffe, some pastries and took pictures with different kind of vegetables! We were like small kids...Then we did what most of the tourist would do..visited the Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey...We walked a lot and was tired but I enjoyed every moment I spent with Emily. We also went Westminster Abbey and the Buckingham Palace to have a glimpse of the place where the Royal Wedding will be. Did I mention that Emily & I went to Primark too? Not once but twice! I must admit that Emily did a really fantastic as she got herself two big bags from Primark. At night, we had home-cooked chinese dinner and enjoyed casual & "sampat" conversation..when I said conversation, what I really meant is "GOSSIPS!" :P

"No Driving" Day

Like I've mentioned before in the previous post, I want to make my life more exciting by doing things that I'm not used to. So today, I've decided to fulfill my 2nd resolution and that is "Public Transport Day"

First destination - Menara Atlan at Jln Ampang

I left my house at 1.45pm and started walking to the RapidKL train station, located 5mins away from my house. I bought a ticket to "Masjid Jamek" that cost RM 2.40. It took about 20mins to arrive at Masjid Jamek. From Masjid Jamek, I took the RapidKL Kelana Jaya line ( RM 1.60) to station Ampang Park. The Ampang Park station is 3 stations away from Masjid Jamek and it took about 9mins to arrive. From Ampang Park, I walked about 8mins to reach Menara Atland ( next to Wisma MCA)

Total duration: 1hour & 5mins ( travel + waiting) from Pandan Indah to Menara Atlan

Total cost: RM 4.00

Second Destination - Celebrity Fitness in Mid Valley

After I finish my meeting, I head back to Ampang Park station to catch a train to KL Sentral (RM 2.00). From KL Sentral, I took the KTM ( yes the slowest train:p) to MidValley ( RM 1.00). I was lucky today because I didn't have to wait for the KTM train ( Seremban line) to arrive. The train was there when I walk down the escalator! It took about 10mins from KL Sentral to Mid Valley (via KTM). Went to my yoga class today for an hour. Stretch and relax the muscles after quite a bit of walking :p After gym, I walk back to the Mid

Valley station . There's a pedestrian bridge that connects Megamall to the station. You can find the bridge on Level 1, North Court ( near Roti Boy) :)

Total duration: 30mins

Total cost: RM 3.00

Third Destination - Home in Pandan Indah

This time, I bought a ticket to station Bandar Tasik Selatan (RM 1.00). I waited 10mins for the KTM train to arrive and it took about 15mins from Mid Valley to Bdr Tasik Selatan. From Bdr Tasik Selatan, I took the RapidKL Ampang line to Pandan Indah ( RM 1.60). To get to Pandan Indah, you have to change line at station Chan Sow Lin because the train is heading to Sentul Timur. Alternatively, you can take the train to KL Sentral, hop on

to RapidKL to Masjid Jamek then take the Ampang line to Pandan Indah.

And now..am home! yay!

Total duration: 60mins

Total cost: RM 2.60

Pros:

1. Avoid being stuck in traffic jam

2. Lose some pounds - walking can burn calories!

3. You get to see some interesting people around you. New buildings too!

Cons:

1. You sweat during walking. Suggestion: Use an umbrella, walking under the shade and don't walk too fast. If you walk too fast, your heart beats faster and you sweat more.

2. Longer travel time. If you look on the bright side, you get to improve your time management skills! ;) Because of the longer travel time and uncertainties, you will have to allocate extra time to travel and this will help you to improve your time management. :)

3. Wait and wait and wait...Suggestion: Bring a book/magazine to read or you can utilize ur PSP/Nintendo DS ;)

It's actually a good idea to take public transport once in a while. Its quite fun! This journey has reminded me to be grateful for I have - a car to drive ;) Imagine the people I've seen today, they travel with public transport everyday..no matter rain or shine..while we have a car roof that protects us from rain and sun rays...

In Just a Moment, Everything Changes

Thoughts were running through my head, day and night, over and over again.. and it really gets me because I know that's not what I want and I'm not happy with it...so I made the decision to pursue my dream..in just a moment, everything changes...

So what was I doing since that "moment"...

November 2010

I took some time off to relax of course and start thinking what to do. First, was to apply for an AIESEC internship and I've been browsing the website to find a suitable match. I know this don't come easy so I must have the patience and determination that I'll get one good match very soon.

Then I was thinking what other interesting thing that I can do and that will make me happy. The first thing that came into my mind was stationery. I don't know for what reason, I really like/love stationery and so I started browsing different websites that sell stationeries..and they are all beautiful...So I thought...."hey why don't I start an online stationery blogshop" and that's when I began planning, getting more information, visualizing, designing and taking it step by step...and now..this is my baby.. I have been thinking to get a tattoo since ages but I never had the courage to do it. I was afraid of the pain. I told one of my friend about my intention and he recommended a friend to me who owns a tattoo studio. I agreed to go and check out the place to get more information. I remember asking the question " is it painful" for like more than 20 times.I think even the tattoo artist was fed up with me and suddenly my friend popped the questions " since you are here, why don't you do it now?" and I replied " No! Are you kidding me..I'm not ready!". The truth is, I know I'll never be ready for this...After a while, I agreed to do it. I still remember the moment I wanted to run away when I heard the sound of the machine..the sound of the machine was scary...the thoughts of the pain when the needle goes into my skin was horrible. I closed my eyes, hugged the pillow tight and tell myself to just bear with the pain. It was painful...for 2 hours I was cursing and talking nonsense..But I must say that, I felt really happy after that. The pain was unforgeable but the joy is unexplainable. It feels good when you finally achieve something that you were very afraid to try..

Another unforgettable moment was my trip to Bangkok. I'm really grateful to be invited to chair the national conference of AIESEC in Thailand. Members there were so pure, passionate and during parties..they are quite crazy too! AIESEC conferences always inspire me no matter you attend as delegates, faci or chair. Thank you for bringing the spark back into my life! and remind me again of who I am and not to forgot..I have quite a lot of Tom Yum Gung! Did I tell you that I LOVE Tom Yum? Yes I do...

January 2011

I want 2011 to be an exciting year and I want to step out of my comfort zone, to try something that I never thought of doing and do something that I never thought I will so I begin listing my resolutions. My resolutions are very simple actions that will make my life more exciting, fulfilling and gives me a different perspective. I believe these resolutions will grow me to be a better person and not take things for granted. 2010 was one very challenging year for me and I want a fresh start

So I started my first resolution - "starting yoga" right after the New Year and I'm happy that I've been doing quite a good job. I go for yoga classes at least 3 times a week. I feel healthier, calmer, and happier! Also because of Yoga, I've started to go on healthy diet. Consume more healthy food and reduce junk food (except my chocolate..)

Work wise; although I don't have a permanent full time job now but believe it or not, I'm really happy. I'm working on a few projects and more to come. One of it is a charity project. Giving to charities and giving to those who are less fortunate make me feel like a million bucks inside. It is very important that we take some time to help the needy. Give them a chance to shine..give them hope for a better tomorrow. “Our children are our only hope for the future, but we are their only hope for their present and their future”

I know 2011 will be an exciting year because it will be another chapter of my life story. Sometimes a new life story “happens itself upon us” in an instant. A change in a relationship, an illness or a promotion, and suddenly everything is different. Everything up for re-evaluation. New decisions to make. New paths to explore. The unknown to wrestle...Never be afraid to change because there are greater surprises waiting ahead of you..

Many of my friends are reminding me that today is THE 10/10/10 and I thought I should take this opportunity to write this note - 10 Things That I Should be Grateful For.Most of the time, we are too busy to remember or to be grateful of something we have and we take things for granted so let's take some time to think what are we grateful for ;)

1. I'm Alive

Life is a gift. Mornings are gifts. Every time when you wake up and stretch out those arms, remember to say, “thank you for the gift of a brand new day!”

2. My Family

I love my family, do you?? Without them, who am I? Imperfect our families may be but here we find the opportunity to grow, share, give and receive love. Thank you mom, dad and brother for everything.

3. My Friends

Thank you friends for being my friend. True friends are those who stand by you, who knows your quirks and weird ways, but have decided to love you anyway. I feel really bad for not spending enough time with my friends. From today onwards, I will spend more time with you guys!

When work is your PASSION

It has been three weeks since I started my new job with Youth Asia. Many people ask me about my job and the company..asking if I've been working like a machine or if I enjoy my work there.

Honestly, I do..I really enjoy my work there ( not because my boss might be reading this). I like my work, I like what I'm doing and most importantly I love the crazy bunch of friends whom I spent most of the hours with. It's amazing how strangers can become incredibly good friends ( at least to me) in such a short period. Thank you dears...thank you for making me feel so comfortable and thank you for making it so fun for me ;).

I hear many stories especially from my friends who told me how unhappy they are with their job.The degree opened up many opportunities for them, but I don't think they found exactly what they are looking for yet..It can take a long time for some people to figure out what they want out of work life..Life is too short to stay at a job where you're not doing the things you want to do, where you're not enjoying yourself. I was lucky. I realized what I loved to do, what I really loved to do more than anything else.

It's abundantly clear to me that my work needs to be my passion. I always believe that the lifeblood of an organization is to have workers who take work as their passion and who thinks work is fun. With that, one can do many more great things and the journey will be much more rewarding...

I'm surrounded by incredibly talented people who are all passionate about youth empowerment and that's exactly why I chose to work there. If you love your work as much as I do, you deserve to work at a company where people come to work not to punch a clock, but because they want to do great things, too. You deserve to work at a company where your contribution and passion are respected. You deserve to work at a company where peers meet to enjoy making a difference together.

Remember, this stuff is supposed to be fun! When we have fun, we can do great things!

An unforgetable experience in Sri Lanka

My inspiration comes from observing the people of everyday life. AIESEC has always been part of my life since the first day I got myself into this big family. I like meeting new people and see new things. I'm really lucky because my surroundings provided the perfect outlet for this needs. IC 2009 was a great experience but it has come to an end and I realize that I have nothing else to do in AIESEC anymore which is really weird because deep down in me...I know I still want to do something for AIESEC. Right in time, an offer came to me and I will not say no. I was invited to chair the national conference in Sri Lanka and I knew this is going to be increadible. I was counting the days that I will be there. I anticipate that my experience in Sri Lanka would bring me something new..

October 15, 2009 at 6.30am, I board the plane and I'm ready to say HELLO to Sri Lanka. My arrival in Sri Lanka was greeted by very funny gestures at the immigration counter. He spent 10 minutes integorating me. From my name to where I come from ( isn't it obvious when he has my passport?) to what I'm doing in Sri Lanka and lastly to something that I could not believe! He ask if I have an email address! It was really awkward..

Then I met with Buddi ( the MCP of AIESEC in Sri Lanka) outside the airport. Then, we head to the bus terminal to catch a bus to Badulla, the place where the conference is held. It took 3 hours from Colombo to Kandi and another 3 hours from Kandi to Badulla. The bus ride was very interesting!! It's completely different from the express buses we have here in Malaysia.

Finally after long hours in the bus, we reach Badulla. Then I had my third First Time, it was the Tuk Tuk. I've never ride on a Tuk Tuk before so it was really fun! Then we arrived to a bungalow and met with the rest of the facis of the conference. They are a bunch of friendly and funny people. Never a second I felt strange or lost. * Thank you facis *

The next day was the official start of my "Chair" experience. We had a short get-to-know-each other. It was amazing as I met people who doesn't eat Dhal, who doesn't eat grapes and who was still using Baby Bottle until the age of 14! We laughed and we joked...It was a great start and I knew this team will do something great..We arrived at the conference site in the afternoon, I took a good look of the surrounding..It was very serene. We were surrounded by tea plantations..It smells green and fresh :) Later in the evening, we met the unbeatable group of people. They are the OCs - the people whom we thanked for making this conference happen. Without them, there will not be NLDS 2009. They may look tired but I could still see the excitement in their eyes.

The conference has finally begun when Buddi said " I declare this conference open". I could hear the joy, the cheer and the incredible energy and it makes me feel so so great. Like I've said, my inspiration comes from people around me. The delegates and all the facilitators were truly inspirational. I admire their enthusiasm, I admire their passion and I admire their dreams. From them, I learnt not to take things for granted. From them, I learnt to be grateful and from them, I found a new meaning of AIESEC...Thank you guys for teaching me a great lesson :) Time flies and is time to say goodbye...I will surely miss all of them.

Before we head back to Colombo, we took a short trip to Dunhinda Falls. It was breathtaking ( facis, you know what I mean *wink*). This time, we didn't take the bus home, we took the train instead. It was another first time for me. The ride will take about 12 hours to reach Colombo..They played UNO, I read my book, we joked and we role played! It was hillarious...it's definitely a train ride that I'll never forget..

On my last day in Colombo, I had a great time. Gayanga and Niradh came and we went to Odel, the Independent Square, the museum. We bumped into the delegates, we went for Dominoes, we played pool and we tried the bowling. After so much fun, I had to say farewell to Buddi. I can't thank this good friend of mine enough for the opportunity he had given to me..It is something that I will cherish for the rest of my life..For that night, our last stop for sight seeing was the buddhist temple. It was WOW! No words can explain..

My last dinner in Sri Lanka was very nostalgic. I met with a friend of mine whom I got to know few years back when he came to Malaysia. My dear friend, Sapumal. A friend who has 10 initials in his name! He was kind enough to bring us for dinner at the Cricket Club. After so many days of rice and spicy food, I finally had a spaghetti carbonara. It was delicious :) Sapu and I manage to catch up and we were joking of the days he was in Malaysia. After the dinner, he was kind enough to send me to Niradh's home which is about 30mins away from where we were. Thank you Sapu. Although it was only 2 hours but it was great :)

I know that I'm digging my own grave if I tell this part of the story because it is already happening when I barely do a thing! So, Niradh was kind enough to host me for that night. His mom was really sweet and helpful. His dad was very thoughtful and basically he has a great family. They treated me with great hospitality and make me feel like home. Niradh, please tell your family that I'm very grateful :)

7 days have gone and is time to say good bye to Sri Lanka. I had a great time here. I met many great people who have left a mark in my life. They've painted a picture that touches my experiences and memories. It's beautiful. I left Sri Lanka with a new hope, with new dreams and with new inspirations.. This story will be a nostalgic reminder of where I come from and hints of where I will be heading to...

Look in the mirror first

I have a very interesting thoughts to share..

I think it is common that when something bad happen, your finger is always pointing at someone else. For example, when you got into an accident, you will always say that is not my fault. Either is the other driver's fault or is because of the heavy rain or is because of the pot hole or is because of the road. It is everything else but is not my fault. I'm not saying that is a sin to think this way. I find myself behaving like this too but I'm lucky to have good family and friends to teach me to look in the mirror first.

If a problem arises, one should look in the mirror first to understand why it happen. What have I done? Like the saying, " it takes two hand to clap". I have known some friends who were completely ignorant about their own mistakes or weaknesses. They never felt that they have played a part for such things to happen. It was never their fault. It's always YOUR fault. What amaze me the most is that these people, will go around and tell everyone that is not their fault. Why are they doing this? To get sympathy? Or to just prove that they are right? I really think that these people should stop being self centered and start to look in the mirror first.

For something to happen, there must be a reason. If that something is related to you, then you must have done something that causes it to happen. So please, take a good look at yourself and stare deeply. Stop pointing finger.Stop playing the blaming game. Accept the truth, learn from it and life goes on. That way, you will be happier and so the people around you.

But if you enjoy playing the finger game then don't be frustrated if you have no more friends around you. Life is fair so the decision is in your hand.

The best 14 months of my AIESEC Experience

It was a super amazing experience. It is by far the best AIESEC experience I've ever had. I had the best 14 months of the lifetime. After the conference, many people came to me and ask how I feel about the experience, about IC 2009 and what I'm going to do next. At first, I really didn't know how to answer because I was not ready to say goodbye to IC 2009 especially to my beloved CC team. I was still living in those moments.

But now, I'm ready to share with you how I feel. I'm sharing with you an email I wrote to my friend..

I feel really so grateful for the people who have supported me directly/indirectly on my journey. I had the best 14 months of my AIESEC Experience as the CCP and I can't thank god enough for sending me 49 amazing individuals to make this dream come true. Many people ask me during IC why I look so relax or at least I don't look too stressful. I knew it was a compliment and it's all because of my team. They were truly prepared and way too hardworking so I didn't need to worry too much! All the things that I envisioned for IC came true...from the songs that I wish to be played during Opening Ceremony to the settings of the Gala Dinner..It was perfect!! For this time, Gala Dinner was not a buffett! Delegates didn't need to queue for food. They get to be served and look pretty:)

I felt so emotional when I was walking in to the ballroom for Opening Ceremony. I wished the song of "Malaysia Truly Asia" to be played...and it really happened. The feeling was amazing - I teared..

14 months of struggle..challenges...difficulties...finally paid off. I promised that no matter what, IC 2009 will happen and it will be a blast. I kept my promises. The conference finish in just a blink. We spent 14 months to prepare and it took only 10 days to end. We really missed it and wish it will last longer or maybe...forever?

Then,CC begin to feel emotional because they realise IC 2009 is soon going to end and is time for them to say goodbye. I didn't feel so sad about the farewell because I knew some of us are going to travel a bit together but when the last CC member left, I felt it. It was at the airport, looking at them walking down to the departure hall and I was reflecting what has happened in the last 14 months.. The next morning when I woke up..for a moment, I felt lost and weird. I feel that the meeting I had with the Director of IYC ( CC pre stay venue) was just yesterday and IC hasnt happen or maybe I was hoping it hasnt happen.

The Malaysian CCs still get to meet up almost everyday for lunch/dinner and we keep in touch with the rest through facebook or Skype. Spend hours and hours on Facebook to upload pictures and commenting them. It's so funny.. I wish you could feel what I'm feeling because is so amazing! I remember telling my CCs at the last CC core meeting that IC 2009 may have ended but our friendship and the memories we shared is forever, is a lifetime. They are not just my team mates but they are my friends. Once we are friends, forever we will be. It is indeed an experience that I can never forget and it will surely live in all of us for the rest of our life. IC 09 may not be a legacy but this EXPERIENCE is a legacy :)

Now, is time for me to move on with life. I will go for an AIESEC internship to create many more experiences and great stories for myself and the people around me.

It's been quite a while since the last post. Life has been completely busy, crazy and exciting! My never-ending work for IC09 and tonne of farewell parties & dinners have been keeping me busy and occupied but once in a while I still manage to catch some movies. The two most recent movies that I absolutely loved were Angel & Demons and Night At The Museum 2. So, No, I've not turned into a crazy workaholic yet! I'm just enjoying my work and do what needs to be done.

Last week when Tina told me to write a welcome speech for the CC Preparation Booklet, I was ecstatic! I had a huge adrenaline rush before I could think what to say. It has been almost a year since I starterd work on IC 2009. Many things has changed. People come and go. From nothing to something. I'm so thankful to everyone who has supported me along this journey. It's only 74 days left to IC 2009 - THE most prestigious event.

For me, being in the team is a dream come true. From the day AIESEC in Malaysia won the bid of hosting International Congress 2009 in August 2007 up until now, it was like a roller coaster ride. The ride has been so fun, challenging, scary and exciting. The core team has never failed to surprise me with their determination and enthusiasm. If you ask me about the experience, I will say is like a rowing race. We build a boat, raise some money, lose a rowing partner, find another rowing partner and then hit the water. Whales glide by, dolphins do somersaults and violent thunderstorms come and go. There were soul destroying days grinding through the doldrums but also exhilarating moments!

And now, with new rowing partners, we will become stronger and we will row faster. The race will be much more thrilling. However, before we could reach to the white sandy beaches with beautiful coconut trees, we will still need to go through the thunderstorms. Along the way you will find out what it feels like stay awake until 3am cutting papers or making booklets. You will find out how to remember over 50 names of different nationalities in one day. You will still smile even though you are feeling sleepy because of the sleepless nights. You will meet people that you never thought you would. There are also days where you will hear many complain and advices when you can’t decide. This journey will be a greater achievement than any yet recorded in the history.

We only spend little time finishing the preparation work before we row to the finish line and feel the victory. So, make full use of the little time left. I know, after an epic 7 weeks hard work, we will take the lead. Finally, we will arrive to the finish line, and found the least likely thing in the world waiting for us………….

A lot has happened in 2008 so far and of course the year cannot be completely accounted for until the new year has taken over. However, it has been an exciting year, a lot has happened. It will furthermore be impossible to cover all events of 2008, but here are the top selections that will paint a good picture of what happened in 2008!

My MCP Election

Through my veins, I can feel the blood gushing, adrenaline rushing and heart beating faster and faster every second while the race pushes me out of my comfort zone. It was an incredible experience – challenging and intense. I felt the jolt of excitement while standing before the national plenary sharing my thoughts, vision and ideas. It was an opportunity that I could never ask for more. Thank You AIESEC Malaysia for giving the chance to stand before you.

My 24th Birthday in Hong Kong

Thank you Darling for this priceless gift. Going to Disneyland is special enough, but celebrating my birthday there with you was amazingly memorable. It was a day filled with joy, happiness, fun and love. It was a great trip. I will not forget the cheap street food that we had, the train ride, the shopping spree from Tsim Tsa Tsui to Tung Chung and all the good moments we had together..I wish for more of this moments to share with you..

MC 07/08 Trip to Perhentian Island

This was our first trip together as a team – nothing about work but a bunch of crazy friends get together purely having FUN! As soon as we arrived at the jetty after the long hours bus ride, we travelled on the fast boat to get across to the island. We stop at the Long Beach and got ourselves an affordable dorm to stay. We had a great time on the island. James & I were trying hard to get our Brazilian tan while the rest were enjoying the majestic underwater world. Drinking on the beach at night was lovely combined with the cool breeze blowing in from the South China Sea. It was a very relaxing and crazy holiday that I will never forget. …

International Congress 2008 in Sao Paulo, Brazil

Is my 2^nd IC after Turkey and this time I didn’t attend as delegate but CC observer! I’m very glad that I was part of the CC08 team. It was an amazing experience and I had a great one month living and working with them. It was tiring, challenging, eye opening and life changing! After IC, I took a week off for a post tour with the Malaysians in Rio de Janeiro. We visited few amazing places in Rio such as the Ipanema beach, Copacabana beach, Concorvado, Sugar Loaf. Bought a lot of Havainas and drank some Caiprinha. After Rio, I head back to Sao Paulo and stayed for 2 days in the @ Bazi’s MC house before I leave to Argentina to meet James for the 2^nd round of post tour!

Argentina was awesome! Finally we had a proper grilled meat (Parilla) dinner on the first night after we arrived in Argentina. Also thanks to Maxi! we have a place to sleep that night. On the next day, we took a long hour’s bus ride to Iguazu. The reason we go to Iguazu is to check out the Iguazu Falls! Trust me, it’s AMAZING! At night, we had another Parilla dinner in a quite fancy restaurant, cam-whored with James for hours at a bar and drank some white wine in the room (opening the wine bottle was fun! but didn’t really enjoy the wine though). Overall, it was a fun and exciting trip. Thanks James for the amazing time…It’s something that I will cherish forever.

March 11, 2008 - A Big SUPRISE

I came back to Malaysia on Sunday morning and I report back to work yesterday. It was soOoo great to finally see almost all my team mates and the new elects again because we’ve been apart for about 3 weeks due to various reasons and responsibilities. As usual, Monday we will have our MC meet and as usual it will be at 8.00pm. So I was all geared up, sitting at the table with James beside me, waiting for the meet to start….and SUDDENLY! The office turn into total darkness…I couldn’t even see James who was sitting next to me…and suddenly I saw a soft light coming in from the hallway..It was Nick and Csilli with a birthday cake!!!! Everyone was singing birthday song to me…the office was filled with such special and friendly atmosphere…I was so so touched and I teared! (Thank God the MCs didn’t notice..ahaha) . They bought me a yummy Tiramisu cake…we enjoyed the cake together throughout the MC meet…

Special thank to Sandy, James, Nick, Csilli, Ariff, Daryl, Jasper and Cafrey for this very special celebration. I can’t tell you how happy and surprised I was…but I’m really really really HAPPY!!

Push Myself A Bit Harder

Finally, I'm done with my exams and now I can spend all my time for AIESEC (okay..not all but maybe 80%). Tonight is another tired night but I feel really great. The MCs have just finished another meeting which turn out to be awesome! We had a fruitful and constructive discussion on the upcoming NLDS/MNC..and I can tell you..this year NLDS/MNC is going to be a blast!

Okay enough said...things have been good but not great. I can still see there are a lot of things that can be done and I'm asking myself, am I doing enough? Am I pushing myself to the limits? If not then why? Why am I not doing enough? What is stopping me? This afternoon, I received a very interesting email from my dear MCP and it strikes my head. I can literally feel what she meant when she was composing that email and I took a short time for reflection to think about what else I can do to make things better. I know that things are critical now and we need to step up and pull ourselves from the hell...is time to change and do something different!

I saw a short video today on Youtube which inspired me a lot.. If we have everything but not the heart, we will not achieve. That's very true..you might have the best office, the best equipment, the best ideas and the best people...but you will never succeed if you don't have the heart.

Have the heart as your driving force to greater achievements. We're good but we want to be GREAT..and the BEST because we CREATE IMPACT and ACHIEVE RESULTS..we're the GENERATION OF ACHIEVERS..

My Third International Conference Experience

When I first joined AIESEC in 2004, I’ve always imagined if I can ever attend an AIESEC international conference…

My dream finally came through again when I have the opportunity to attend APXLDS 2007 in India after my first APXLDS in Philippines in 2006. I felt really proud representing the country together with 4 other delegates from Malaysia in the conference. APXLDS for me was quite an intensive experience because never before I was given an opportunity to think so deeply about my values, putting them on paper and thinking about them, discussing them with all the amazing people at the conference. Never before did I think about my vision concerning my personal and professional life. Never before did I think I would be able to make a positive impact in the society I’m living in today and never before did I think I will be developing strategies for AIESEC in Malaysia.

Thanks to this conference, I’ve discovered simply what I'm going to do next year, I changed my mind and from those thoughts I could built up a carrier vision from myself. I consider that a great result of APXLDS. It planted the seeds in me that I really needed.

I'm so glad to be at APXLDS again. Meeting back some old friends was really great. The conference made me realized how much we can do for this organization to create the impact. I've also realized that there are still a lot to learn and to contribute. I'm truly inspired by each and every individual at the conference. If you ask me what I get out of the conference, I would say “INSPIRATION”. Inspiration that I believe I will make a difference for myself and the people around me.

If you ever get a chance to go to an international conference, do it. Do your best to get there. It will be an awesome experience. You are not discovering yourself, but creating yourself anew. Seek, therefore, not to find out who you are, seek to determine who you want to be.

Are You Having Sleeping Disorder?

A good night's sleep problem solver

1. Exercise regularly, preferbly in the late afternoon. DO NOT exercise strenuosly within 2 or 3 hours of bedtime, as this may impare your ability to fall asleep

2. Dont take a long nap during the day.
3. Eat at regular times during the day and avoid a heavy meal close to bedtime
4. After lunch, stay away from anything that contains caffeine.
5. Don't smoke! If you can't quit, try not to smoke for an hour or two before bedtime
6. Avoid excessive mental stimulation before bedtime
7. A warm bath or a few minutes of reading in bed, listening to soothening music, or meditating are as useful sleep rituals.
8. Keep your bedroom dark and quiet.
9. Use your bedroom only for sleeping, not for working or watching tv.
10. Wear nightclothes that are loose-fitting and comfortable

Milk and honey promote sleep. Milk contains tryptophan, an essential amino acid that is among the natural sietary sleep inducers. Tryptophan works by increasing the amount of seronin, a natural sedative, in the brain. This is why so many folk remedies include warm milk with a teaspoonful of honey.

A banana with milk gives you vitamin B10, which helps convert tryptophan to serotonin!

My second visit to Pantai Cheras Medical Centre

If you are wondering if I'm sick again. YES! You are correct!

Since last Wednesday, I have been having on and off fever. Until Friday morning, I started to have headache. I couldn't stand it anymore so I went to the clinic after work to consult the doctor. Doctor prescribed me with some pain killers, Vitamin C and fever tablets. On the next day, it just didn't get any better, in fact it has became worse until I couldn't imagine. My mom suggested to my dad to bring me to consult the Sinseh but the Sinseh advised me to go to the hospital and so I went to the Pantai Cheras Medical Centre.

I was pushed to the emergency ward. They checked my temperature and pressure. Doctor gave me a jab (pain killer) to reduce my headache. After 20 minutes, he came back to check and things were still the same. He gave me the second jab (pain killer) and after 15 minutes, still the same......Doctor decided to admit me to the ward!

In the ward, they took my blood sample a few times for blood test and I had a Lumbar Punctures too (ouucchh!!) to check if I have any brain infection or brain tumor.

Some info about lumbar punctures. Spinal taps are usually done with the patient lying in a curled position (the "fetal" position) on his/her side. This opens up a space between each vertebrae (spinal bones) along the spine. These procedures are done under sterile conditions, with the skin numbed with sedative. A needle is then inserted through the space between adjacent vertebrae in the lower back area. The spinal cord stops well above this area so there is no danger of contacting the cord itself during this procedure. A small amount of clear fluid is withdrawn and medications may be given through the same needle. The fluid sample is studied under the microscope by your doctor in order to detect any malignant cells. Some patients may be weak and experience headaches or nausea after an LP, especially if medications are given into the fluid. Therefore, an anti-emetic (a drug that prevents vomiting) is usually given to avoid these side effects.

And finally I discharged from the ward today! I'm feeling better now although still need to be on medication. I'm happy to be home.

HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus, is a virus that attacks and weakens the body's disease-fighting system. HIV is the virus that causes AIDS. This does not necessarily mean that the person has AIDS.

AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. AIDS is the name given to the group of illnesses that occur in HIV-positive people as a result of a weakened immune system. The most common of the illnesses are opportunistic infection like pneumonia, tuberculosis, thrush, certain types of cancers and a number of skin disorders. The illnesses may occur many years after a person is infected with HIV.

HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, discriminates nobody. Anyone can acquire the virus if he or she is negligent or unaware about the virus.

If you have had unprotected penetrative sex or shared contaminated needles to inject drugs, you have put yourself at risk of HIV infection. Don't underestimate the possibilities.

You may feel well and look great, but don't be too confident, HIV infection may now show any sign or symptoms until the whole of your immune system becomes weak and damaged

Because you feel healthy and look healthy, you may think that you are not infected. You could be right. But you could be wrong too, and the virus may have been lurking in your body, reproducing and destroying your immune system..little by little. You may not even feel it, until a large regiment of your immune system is damaged. And while you are unaware of the virus's presence in your body, you may have passed it to someone else

Early detection allows for immediate treatment, if you are diagnosed positive. Knowing that you have been infected could also save other people from infection. On the other hand, wouldn't it be a relief to hear that you're free from the virus?

Eat plenty of:

1. Eat lots of salmon, sardines and other cold-water fish, rich in omega-3 oils, three or more times a week

2. High-fiber, low-calorie foods to help control weight. Eat 5 to 10 servings every day of: dark green or bright orange vegetables to provide beta carotene; broccoli, peppers, cabbage and brussels sprouts for vitamin C and avocados for vitamin E

3. Eat daily: yellow-orange-colored fruits for beta carotene; citrus fruits, berries, melons and kiwi for vitamin C.

4. Eat nuts, seeds, and whole grains regularly, for vitamin R, a potent antioxidant that helps relieve inflammation and stiffness.

Avoid:

1. Any foods that provoke symptoms.

2. Some evidence indicates that a small percentage of people with arthritis have food allergies that exacerbate joint symptoms. Common offenders include shellfish, soy, wheat, corn, alcohol, coffee and possibly certain food additives. Researchers have found that, for these people, removing the allergy-causing foods from the diet has resulted in less pain. If you think a certain food is triggering your pain, remove it from your diet for two weeks and pay attention to any symptom changes. Then add it back and see if your symptoms worsen.

P/s: Obesity greatly increases the risk and severity of osteoarthritis. Even a little extra weight strains the knees and hips. Losing weight and increasing exercise often improve symptoms. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis often have the opposite problem; they may be too thin due to a lack of appetite, chronic pain or depression. A doctor may recommend calorie-and nutrient-enriched liquid supplements

APXLDS (Part 2)

There were 6 of us attended APXLDS 2007. Suat May, Sook Theng and Nick were in the LDS track and Daryl and me attended the XPRO track. Basically XPRO was very intense and intellectual basis. On the first day, we had a session to understand our self as a person and leader. Like our strengths and weaknesses. After we understand about our self, we need to understand the trend of the organization from the past until the present. For the other days we had sessions on the IPM 07 output, global strategies and the focus area. Basically we have to challenge the 'bring back' and discuss on few possible implementations and strategies base on the country's needs and capacity. XPRO gave us the opportunity to exchange our ideas and thoughts. Everyday, we will have country meet with different countries, whether it's over lunch/dinner or during party time. Country meet is for both country to exchange needs/offers and to discuss possible partnership between both countries.

After the tough day, we have parties at night. For example, AP Night (Nick is the Miss AP! Malaysia first time wining the title!!), Indian Night (got to understand the Indian culture..it's FUN!) and other random parties.

I'm so glad to be at APXLDS. Meeting back some old friends were great. The conference made me realized how much we can do for this organization to create the impact. I've also realized like there are still a lot to learnt and to contribute. I'm truly inspired by each and everyone at the conference. With the motivation, passion and commitment that each and everyone have, I'm sure AP GN will move to a greater height. Thank you APXLDS 2007!

My Second APXLDS (Part 1)

Time flies, I can still remember my first APXLDS experience. It's truly memorable.

Two weeks ago, I went to Hyderabad in India for my second APXLDS. The moment I stepped out from the airport, I was shocked. Was shocked to know the way people in India drive. It's completely different compared to Malaysia. It's dangerous and they honk a lot on the road is very noisy. It's scary and mental challenging. We checked-in to the hotel at about 2.00am. The next morning, our dear friend, Shivani came to the hotel and take us out for a tour. First, he brought us to Chutney's for breakfast. They served fantastic vegetarian breakfast. According to Shivani, Indians usually take vegetarian food for breakfast. After the breakfast, we went to a Buddha temple which is about 30 minutes drive from Chutney's. It's on another side of the town. Situated in the middle of the housing area. That's why we got to see another side of Hyderabad, the more peaceful side.

After the temple, we dropped by at Shivani's uncle house to chill before we move on to the next stop, Salar Jung Museum. Salar Jung Museum is the third largest museum in India housing the biggest one-man collections of antiques in the world. It is well known throughout India for its prized collections belonging to different civilizations dating back to the 1st century. The museum is big and we spent about 2 hours in the museum (we seen only half of it). After walking for 2 hours, we were quite tired and hungry. Before we get to have our dinner, we have to visit someone special and she is Shivani's mother! She's so kind and a loving mother.

We had our dinner at this place called Paradise. They served the TRUE INDIAN briyani's rice. YUMMY! The food in India are not expensive. With RM 10, you can have a good meal. After a good dinner, Shivani brough us to the Hussain Sagar lake. The lake is about 24 kilometres built on a tributary of the River Musi. There is a large monolithic statue of the Lord Buddha in the middle of the lake.

We had a great day with Shivani. He's a great host! Thank you so much my dear friend.

Finally I'm 23

Yes yes..I'm already 23. Time has definitely flies fast. I know some people, they're not crazy about birthdays but to me, it is very important. Birthday is so special. If I don't celebrate this year, will I get to celebrate next year? Things in life has became so uncertain..that's why I cherish every moment in my life...and my birthday..

My birthday was great! My parents and my good friends called me to wish me and some texted me with b-day wishes. My darling boyfriend, Alan talked me through my birthday's eve and he sang me a birthday song. Oh, on the next day, he came to pick me, he gave me a big bouquet of Madonna Lilies and we celebrated together at the Basil Leaf. Is a very nice Thai restaurant with calm ambience with attractive surroundings and the food was quite good. The Tom Yam soup was fantastic! Too bad we can't finish off the food...

Right after the dinner, we went to Alexis Bar in Bangsar to meet a good friend of mine (Melvin) and his girlfriend (Christine) for drinks. Is nice to see them after so looooong. We chated for while and SUDDENLY..I saw two VERY FAMILIAR faces walking towards me....it was ANISHA and DIPPY!!!! Oh my God, for a moment, I was caught off guard. I was so happy to see them because I really didn't expect that I will see them...after that Simone turn up, she gave me a beautiful purse and then Jong Tae came with a beautiful square strawberry-blueberry cake...I'm sure 'someone' has planned this. At the end of the night...after long awaited moment, finally Alan gave me my present..I love it so so much!!!!!!!!! Thank you darling..

My great Japanese friend, Eri gave me this very cute present (is actually a measurement tape..hmm?) and my good friend, Kitti gave me a lovely keychain. Thank you girls!!

All I can say is..I had a great birthday! So here I go, onwards with 23!!! :)

Yesterday was my darling's birthday. We had a great time celebrating it together! We went over to One -Utama for dinner at this very nice restaurant called Dragon-I. or "Loong De Chuan Ren" in Chinese. The restaurant's specialty 'Siu Long Pau' and "La Mian" (ramen). We ordered a Chicken Vege La Mian ( I can't remember the exact name), Siu Long Pau, Shanghai Fried Rice Flour Cake (this is nice!), Double Boiled Herbal Chicken Soup With Scallop and Hong Kong Kai Lan (yummy!). The La Mian itself quite fine and very smooth. The soup doesn't carry very strong taste but gives a subtle hint of aroma, which was nice and didn't feel like those that are overly laden with MSG. As for dessert, I ordered my all time favourite, Black Sesame Glutinous Rice Ball in Ginger Soup! The waiters and waitresses there were extremely friendly, nice, thoughtful and helpful! Overall, it's a pretty decent place with a very nice atmosphere for dining.

After dinner, we walked around in One-Utama before we went home for a very special ceremony! Yes..is the cake cutting ceremony. I was getting really excited and worried if everything will be perfect until aunty burst the bubble! I was in his room preparing some little surprises and I overheard Alan's mother saying "why don't you all take the cake out and eat?"...Then I was like..."sigh..no more surprises.." hahaha

Anyways, it was really a great night for me and I hope for you too darling. I hope it has been a memorable one to you. Guess who made the cake?! Can you count how many candles are there? hehe

Missing You, Zilva

My dear Zilva, her flight was scheduled to depart at 12.00pm this afternoon. I really wanted to see her once again before she leave but I couldn't because I have to attend an appointment. Last night, we had a farewell dinner for her in the office. We had Dominos pizzas, cakes and some drinks. The NLDS facis were here too to grace the event! I made a really funny looking photo frame for her (I hope you like it dear) and in return, I got this really nice necklace from her (thanks a lot girl..so sweet of you). Last night, I've set my alarm clock to 10.00am meaning I'm suppose to wake up at 10.00am but at the end, I woke up around 8.30am. I couldn't sleep because was missing my great friend, zilva. At that time she was probably on her way to KLIA and I was in my room pondering the memories we had in these 2 months. She is such a great friend of mine. Eventhough is just 2 months but I feel like have known her for years!

I'm really sad that she has to go but I'm happy for her for some reasons. Dear, we will always miss you here and please come back and visit us ya!
Like I've told you..this may the end of your ceedership but will definiltey a beginning of our friendship!

Loyalty, honesty and trust are interwoven like a single piece of cloth. They are usually established in the beginning stages of a relationship, and should be built upon continually throughout life. Each day, I have a choice to be trustworthy and loyal to my mate. Every time I choose rightly, I strengthen our bond of trust. And every time I choose to trust my mate, I strengthen our bond of love.

Paul says that love "...always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres" (1 Corinthians 13:7).

Loyalty, trust and honesty make our love comfortable. We can be ourselves with our mates because we can trust their love and they can trust ours. This kind of love gives us a sense of belonging, of safety.

All I need is Love and Love is about loyalty, honesty and trust.

Life in AIESEC (Part 1)

Five minutes ago, I was browsing through my folders of pictures and I noticed that I've taken so much pictures. Pictures of my journey in AIESEC. I first heard about this organization was from my cousin brother. He was an alumnus of AIESEC in UKM long long time ago. Then I heard about"AIESEC" again from my good friend, Kitti. She told me that in UM, there's this cool organization and she asked me to find out if they have in UKM. Few days later, as I was walking alone to Bangunan Pusanika, suddenly there was this guy came to me and gave me a piece of paper. I dropped it inside my bag without reading it. Few hours later, as soon as I reached home, I saw my cousin brother again and he ask me if I've join AIESEC and then I realised that I actually saw that name somewhere before..but where? Well, it was the small piece of paper that the guy gave to me..it was a recruitment flyer...

Without knowing much about AIESEC, I went straight to the AIESEC room the next day to sign up as member. I went into the AIESEC room, each and everyone of them speaks English and I thought it must be some kind of English or drama club. Then I saw some posters of some countries and an article about some exchange program. I've always wanted to go on a student exchange program since high school. Since then, I slowly get involved in AIESEC. I attended the "general training" a few times and suddenly on this one fine night, I was selected as the "square dance mistress" by the members of AIESEC UKM and I was like..WHAT'S THAT? And then the seniors told me that I have to choreograph a 3 minutes dance..there you go..my first responsibility given in AIESEC..At that point of time, I found the organization very interesting. Probably because I have nothing else better to do in university :) I got to meet a lot of people from different faculty. Through AIESEC, I got to know a few people whom are now my very good friends today..namely Aw Yong, Thivina, Schvonne, Jian Hong, Ariff, Yoke Yen..and of course it will be more along the way..

After NLDS, I was very lucky. I was given an opportunity by a senior of mine, Yoke Yen (now my teammate) to be the Publicity & Communications Director of EYLN 2005. It was a great experience to be working with her, jian hong, pei ping, ee leen..list goes on. EYLN has offered me great learning experiences. I get to meet and work with people from the General Electric. I've learnt so much from these people. Yoke Yen, thank you for believing in me. That's my 1st year in AIESEC (tearing now). Great friendship were born. Great experiences I had. One great year that I'll never forget.

Thank you for the good time. The pillow talk. The photo shoot in my room (*wink). The cooking sessions. The make-up sessions. The gossip sessions. Remember before I reach home, we always guess if "Maharani" is sleeping in the room? Remember we tried to wake "Maharani" up with the chicken rice? A great journey - NLDS 2006

When was the last time I wrote something in my blog? Well, that's because I was very, extremely busy last week. We just came back from the 26th AIESEC Malaysia National Leadership Development Seminar in Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang. More than 500 young people from all over the country attended this conference. We also had our guests all the way from Australia! (thanks Alex for making your way here! Is really glad to see you again after some time!) It was really great to see all the delegates enjoying themselves during the conference. A big thank you to the facilitators for making NLDS a blast!

MCs..(Anisha, Yokey, Sandy, Chungs, Chee Kek, Sri) **HUGSSSS**.. Remember before the conference we said.." This is our time to shine, is our conference and we'll make it the best ever" I think we make it! It was a phenomenal conference ever I had! I really enjoy working with all of you. Despite the ups and downs, I have no regret because I have the best team ever! Thank you for the good time..

Now, I'm listening to the song, "Sunshine After The Rain" and "At the Beginning" and yess...I'm sort of tearing! (in office alone now) At the beginning we faced a lot of ups and downs, worried about this and that but finally, we saw the sunshine after the rain and one thing that will never change is our friendship.

Components of Love

Can trust grow in relationships over time? Just because you spend time together with that person so you think you can build that understanding and authenticity. Do you think that unconditional love develops trust? People are complex. Previous hurts, fears or losses can impede their determination to trust and/or be truthful in a relationship. Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. You and your loved one will still hurt each other, therefore, you both need to become better forgivers and confessors. That ability to reconcile and spirit of humbleness will prove the depth of your love and commitment. Did I just say commitment? What do you think commitment is? Do you think that you are committed to your partner or the relationships?

Can you take it if you found out that your partner is playing around? Went all out..still searching for that Ms/Mr Right? That he/she is not committed to the relationships? How would you feel about it?

The components of love; commitment, trust, honesty, understanding and forgiveness. Ask yourself, do you actually love that person and the relationships is for real. If yes, why are you doing such thing to hurt him/her. What if it happen to you one day? What goes around comes around. Be committed and honest so that Love will be immortal.

The Hospital

In less than one week, I had visited four doctors, taken three different kind of jabs and yet, my condition didn't get any better. Is all started with a fever and urinary infections. After seeing the first doctor in my university, my infections worsen that brought me to the second doctor. Medications prescribed by the second doctor has caused me allergy. I had red rashes all over my body. Then I went to the third doctor for cure. The rashes lasted for almost four days. On Tuesday morning, I began vomitting inexplicably, dad brought me to the clinic nearby but my condition seems unchange and around 1.00am, when most of the people were sleeping soundly, I was admitted to the hospital. Once I reached the hospital, I was put on the wheelchair and the nurses pushed me into the emergency ward. Doctor came to check me, took my urine and blood sample for test and gave me a jab to stop me from vomiting. I was then given a pint of insulin to help to restore the normal ability of my body. Then, they pushed me to the general ward. Doctor told me that I'm diagnosed with urinary infections and is infecting my kidney. 3 days in hospital is not nice at all. I couldn't move freely because I'm always on drip. Nurses came in every 3 hours for observation and injections. I had to swallow some antibiotics as big as skittles every 3 hours ( how I wish it was REAL SKITTLES)..Gosh...
Thank God, I've just discharged from the hospital. I'm all good, just albeit weak. Special thanks to my darling, mummy, daddy and brother for staying by my side all the time. Thank you aunty, uncle and friends who came by to visit me.

Disappointed

I heard something that is heartbreaking. Am feeling so upset and disappointed with certain people now. How can people judge others like that when they know nuts about them or what they are doing. The higher you climb the thinner the air gets....I think that's the biggest challenge about being in a position of responsibility. All about the critics... Everyone watches you and no one looks behind the scenes.I would appreciate if those people can come straight up to us and clarify their dissatisfactions rather than putting might-be false accusation. Sigh..

My first time to Singapore

Last Saturday was my first time to Singapore! I reached UTM on Friday night for their SAC on Saturday and I decided to go over to Singapore after SAC since is nearby and most importantly,I have not been there! So after the SAC around 12.00pm, I took a bus to Bandaraya and then walked to the Checkpoint. Once reached Singapore, I met up with Jing Wen from MC AIESEC Singapore at the Jurong East station. He then took me to NTU to meet up with Sharon, Dey, Tong, Diana and the rest of the AIESECers..I like NTU!! They have McDonald there!! Very clean and beautiful university. Jing Wen took me around the NTU and we took some pictures.

Guess what...I went through the longest staircase ever!! (the one you see in the picture is just half of it..) At night, we went to Laupasar for dinner with some new and old interns, AIESECers and friend's of AIESEC. I had Pan Mee soup for dinner..well..I still prefer Malaysia's Pan Mee..hahaha

After dinner, we walked to Esplanade! Took more and more pictures as we walk along. Saw the prestigious 6 star hotel, Fullerton, The Merlion and other statues. Singapore is very beautiful at night. We hang around at the Harry's Bar until 12.00am then took a cab back to Sharon's house. I was so so tired until I fallen asleep in the cab. Haha..Thanks Sharon for letting me to sleep in your room. Sorry to Sharon's hamster...

The next morning, I'm supposed to meet up with Jing Wen at 9.00am for breakfast and final tour around Chinatown before I leave. But he was late! So late until me and Sharon had to wait until 10.30am..sigh..After that, we took the MRT to Chinatown for Dim Sum breakfast and bought some souvenirs for people I love back home.

Time flies and I had to leave.Took a bus to Larkin and got myself a ticket back to Kuala Lumpur. Wish I can go back to visit Singapore again one day because I've not seen the pink dolphin yet!!

So furious!!!

I reach to the AM office parking space around 3pm. I spotted a potential parking spot on my left as the owner of the car was walking towards her car. So I stopped and put on my left signal. But also I shifted to reverse, just to give more space for the car to come out even though the car behind me didn't want to move an inch. Then I realized there was a lot of cars waiting behind, so I moved to aside just to give way to the cars behind.

After the car came out from the parking space, I quickly reverse my car BUT that stupid car behind me drove right up to the spot! I honked several times but he couldn't care less!!! So annoying!
Rude old uncle! I didn't confront him because I respect him but doesn't mean he's right!

To the uncle of the car BHP 3733, one word for you. RUDE! I hope your children doesn't behave like you. How would you feel if other people do that to you?

Awful day

On the 3rd day, we decided to get out of Kuta to explore other sides of Bali. So, first, we went to Nusa Dua. Took us almost 30 mins to reach Nusa Dua by bike. Nusa Dua is a peninsula, located at the southern side of Bali. Most of the high-end hotels are located there. Like Grand Hyatt Bali, Hilton International Bali, Nikko Bali and etc...

After checking out the hotels in Nusa Dua, we went on to search for Pura Geger. By the way, "Pura" means temple. Pura Geger, a temple dedicated to agricultural deities, is a short distance east of town on a rocky promontory. From Pura Geger, you can overlook the beautiful sea. About 400meter from Pura Geger, we came to a seaweed farm. According to one of the farmer there, the collected seaweeds is used in food, sauces, soap and condiments. They also export the seaweed to countries like Japan and Singapore.

After that, we ride towards Uluwatu. Before we reach Uluwatu, we stopped by at the Garuda Wishnu Kencana Cultural Park in Jimbaran. Is a cultural park craved out of limestone rock. We paid 15,000 Rupiah each for admission fees. This entitled us to stroll around and view the great statue of Vishnu, the Hindu God and the statue of half bird half man, Garuda. After visited the cultural park we head on to The Peak in Uluwatu to see the beaches. Beautiful beaches...After few hours in Nusa Dua and Uluwatu, we decided to head back to hotel for dinner.

We had our dinner in some random restaurant. After dinner, we went back to hotel to rest and prepare ourselves for next day's tour!

Day 2 in Bali

This is really a great place! Woke up around 9am and had breakfast in the hotel. On the 2nd day, we toured around in Kuta. Our mission is to find BIGGEST shopping complex in Bali! They call it the CENTRO. But before we start, we stopped by at the money changer to change our US dollars to the local currency. Then we went on bike to Kuta town!

As soon as we reached the town, we stopped by at a DVD shop and spent almost 1 hour choosing DVD!! DVDs there cost around RM 4.00 and if you buy 10, you will get 3 for free! Alan were so happy with his DVDs.( I'll get the police to arrest you! hahaha). Being in Bali, you have to try some of the famous local grub else don't say you've been to Bali..so we tried the MI BAKSO! Mi Bakso is a sweetish pork ball noodle soup. At around 5000 Rupiah per bowl, you can find it being sold by streets vendor (on bike and cart) everywhere in Bali. The Indonesian bakso has a chewy texture and sometimes when eating lesser quality bakso one has the feeling of biting into a rubber ball that goes from one side of the mouth to another. The emphasis of this dish is on the large-sized grayish pork ball, and not on the noodles. Certainly a bowl was not sufficient to fill even one tiny corner of my tummy!

After mi bakso, we shopped around in Centro and bought a sarong for myself and Polo shirts for daddy and Alan. After I pay for the shirts, I found out that I'm short of almost 300,000 Rupiah in my purse! Then we realized...probably we got cheated at the money changer!! Darn! Is a long story how we got cheated so I'm not going to tell but if anyone is going to Bali, please be careful with the money changers! Know how much you gave them to change and how much you got back. Count again before you step out from the shop. They have all the skills to trick you without you knowing...sigh

After that, we went back to the hotel to bathe and rest. At night, we went to the bar! Had some weird drinks! I forgot the name but the guy told me after I drink, my skin will become smoother...hahaha.. One more thing, there were so so many ladies in the bar! Pretty, not so pretty, young, old..you name it! What were they doing?? hahaha...hunting for 'Mat Salleh'...I had goosebumps the whole night..looking at the old ladies with young Mat Salleh..haha..

We left the bar at around 2am..

Bali, Indonesia

Day 1

September 2, 2006 was my first time in Bali, Indonesia. We took an approx 3 hours flight from LCCT, KLIA to Denpasar, Bali. Guess what I first had in Bali when I reached? A scoop
of Baskin Robins ice-cream that costs 15000 Rupiah right outside the arrival hall! This may sounds stupid but is my favourite and I like it! Then we took a cabby to the Hotel Saphir Mabisa in Legian, Kuta. Took approximately 20 minutes drive from the Airport. It was not a big or luxurious 5 stars hotel but it's really good. With calm and peaceful ambiance and botanic surroundings, is just perfect for relaxation.

As soon as we settled down, we went for our first lunch in Warung Wali then we took a walk along Kuta's beaches. As we walk along, we saw
lotsa surfers busy showing off their skills, kids running around, and others sun bathing. Many people says "Bali's beaches are a perfect tropical surf paradise.." and I guess is true and as you shop around in Bali, you will see tonnes of surf shops...as if they've sprung up like mushrooms after rain. Roxy, Ripcurl,Rusty, Quicksilver, Billabong and etc..just name it!

On that night, we also rented a bike for 45000/day. He took me around in Kuta and we had our dinner in a Thai's restaurant. Kuta is a hustling bustling town with lotsa bars,hotels, restaurants, and shops. Just like our Bangsar..
So..that's my first night in Bali..stay tune for more updates and pictures!

Its raining

Today, has been a miserable day. Feeling tired and restless now.
Just reach AM after a long drive from UKM due to a very heavy and horrible rain that I have to drive at the speed of 20kph..
So cold now, the rain washes my soul..from head to toe, inside out..
As I gaze out the windows, I see a dark and stormy sky that best explains my feelings now..dark and gloomy

I look up
as a tear rolls slowly
down my cheek
I think about better days
and wonder if I'll feel that way again

Hoping to understand
why you've said those things you did
I wonder for a moment
if this is all a dream
if I shall wake in the morning
and be relieved

Leaving me empty
and confused..

Bad day

“CUT! Good take! Finished an interview for a documentary. I walk to my car, start the engine and began my journey home. On my way home, I stop by at the petrol station at Jalan Reko to pump petrol..else don’t think I can get home..haha..

Then found out that my fuel tank’s cover is jammed! If I don’t pump petrol, I won’t be able to reach home so I called my dad for help. He told me to try a few more times with a special trick..and thank GOD! It works..so I drove my car to the pump for petrol. I took out the money from my purse, open my door and close it! Guess what happen? I LEFT THE CAR KEY IN THE CAR!!!! (gosh..yeah…I bet some of you guys are laughing at me now..) and my mobile phone is in the car too..Few guys came try to help..but as usual..you can’t use spoon or ruler or string to unlock my car because it’s just too well secured….(sigh)

One of them lend me his mobile to call daddy and of course dad laughed at his dumb daughter. Sitting at the pump next to my car..waited for 1 hour and finally dad came with the spare key…..*phew*

So now you know why that song? Hahaha…

UBS Award is here again!

Just started somewhere few days ago. We resolve to do something. To win the UBS Award AGAIN. Anisha took out the map, we make our preparations, and then start traveling the right road together as a team. When facing any problems that stand in our way. We did something to resolve them. We trust our instincts and the team. We sow seeds of fear, doubt, panic but we never give up! We were working courageously for over 25 hours, no proper sleep; no proper meal; no proper bath, just to prove in what we believe. We slowly start making progress towards our goal, painting the map with newfound confidence. Joy of a lifetime is the success ones make of life. After so many hours of struggle, we finally submitted our ‘piece of art’ to Mairi at 9.19pm. We might be going to face a little problem now but we were still so happy and glad that we have completed the map. Sacrifices pay off.

Success is not necessarily reaching the goal but reaching the maximum possibilities in light of the opportunities that come in the way. To keep our values on target remember to live so that when we leave, we will have pride behind us and hope ahead of us. APXLDS 2006

Mabuhay!
The Malaysians are now in Bohol Tropics Resort for APXLDS 2006!!
Landed in Clark airport around 11.30am on Tuesday.
Came out from the arrival hall.Went to buy a Simcard to call the OCs. The place look very 'ulu'. It's so hot here! The OC told us to take the bus from Clark airport to Makati city (300pesos) which will takes up around 2hrs! Then when we reach a place called SM Megamall..have to take a cab to the Cebu Pacific Air domestic airport...which is around 30mins away from the Megamall by cab. We reached the domestic airport around 3.30pm..went to the ticketing counter...waited a while for my turn..I told the girl about the incident and ask if there's any flight to Cebu. She told the earliest is 5.00pm and we have to pay another 1000Pesos for that! NO choice..we paid and took the flight to Cebu. Reach there around 6.20pm..then we head to the information counter to ask for direction to the ferry terminal.
Unfortunately, the last ferry for the day is 6.40pm so..there's no way we can make it for the ferry coz the terminal is kind of far, takes around 20mins by cab. While on the plane from Manila - Cebu, we met this young guy, in his early 30s.He told us about CEBU (DOs and DON'Ts).Very nice of him. He helped us to ask around, got us cab to take us to the hotel.
Then i called the OCs again to check if there's any OCs in Cebu..and THANK GOD!..there's Jason with a group of delegates from HK. They were late too! Then we took the cab to the hotel. Met up with the HK delegates, we went to the opposite restaurant for dinner..then Jason brought us to walk around (REALLY WALK). The place is kind of quiet and dark. Then Jason suggested to hit the clubs ..took a cab there..here everything is CAB or WALK or JEEP. We left the club around 12am.

Then..head to bed...woke up at 5am in the next morning.. took cab to the ferry terminal..took the earliest ferry which is 6.30am..reach Bohol at 8.30am...NOW FINALLY I'M HERE!!! in the Hotel..phew!
When I was on the way to the ferry terminal...I pass by the really poor housing estate..people there bathe at the roadside...so sad..
I'm very tired and sleepy now..body all aching. I think I have to stop here..need to rest..Good night..

Hong Kong - Last January

One day, Stephanie was telling me and Melvin about the WNCF in Hong Kong. She applied to become the Faci of the conference and was accepted. 3 of us got quite excited and start planning to go HK..and well....I did actually bought the plane tix but unfortunately..Steph cant go anymore as she has just recovered from " the accident" and Melvin too because he wants to save the money for APX...
So on that evening..I took the flight alone to Macau. Reached Macau after 3hours 15mins of flight. Then took a cab to the ferry terminal. Took the ferry and reached Hong Kong at 9++pm. Then I call Wei Han and we met up at New World around 10++pm.

The next morning..I left the hotel to Tsim Sha Tsui. Walked around that place..did some shopping and found myself lost in Tsim Sha Tsui! hahaha..well but at least I had fun! Walk from 11am till around 7pm and trust me..am not tired at all!! and I had the most expensive wantan mee in town.....

In the conference.. alot of new friends found..alot of discussion with AIESECers from different LC about PBOXs..they were very excited about the HIV/AIDS PBOX. Witnessed the MCP Election..was great! Congrats Mandy! All the best to you and the team

After the conference..I went back to the hotel in Tsuen Wan. The next day..travelled around the Central..visited the park..the library..the shopping complexes..went to the CNY fairs...there are still so many more places that I haven't go..*sob sob*.... Went back to Tsim Sha Tsui after that..met up with the MCs. Had the best dessert in town at Hui
Lou Shan!!

Next stop...the DISNEYLAND!!! Spent the whole day in Disneyland..still AWESOME albeit is different from other Disneylands. Went for the Pooh Adventure ride, watched the MICKEY Golden Awards Show, went to the Philmagic teater, did some little shopping in the Emporium...had lunch at the Disney Bakery... There was a Disney parade in the afternoon too. It was a fun day! " Oh Mickey You're so FINE! You blow my mind..hey MICKEY! hey MICKEY! "

The next morning, the AIESECERs brought me to a restaurant for DIM SUM!! Nice..Yummy! Thank you Ricky, Phoebe, Carmen, Zhong Kai, Ian , Vincent, Nancy, Jackie...After the breakfast..I left to the ferry terminal...went back to Macau for my flight back to MALAYSIA..

My days in Hong Kong were awesome! Thank you to all of you for such a sweet memories..I hope to see you all again soon!

p/s : Phoebe..you promised that you'll come to Malaysia this summer right? Cant wait to see you!!
